Wish everyday was MonDay!

I know. Everybody hates Mondays. I hate Mondays. That is our goal. To put a stop to this hatred everybody has for this wonderful day when we all have to go back to work or to school, when we have to stop just doing nothing and start doing something all over again. Indeed, we have our reasons to hate this day.

How could you love something that you hate? What would you change in something that you hate so that you could love it? What is that one thing that brightens up a day for you? The thing that when you are feeling down, raises you up through itself? That is exactly what we need to make Monday a loved day. Sunday is the day to hate anyway.

How about art? Both classic and contemporary, art “appeals to the senses or emotions”. Yes, MonDaily wants to make Mondays beautiful through art, through its beauty and calmness or ferocity, through silence or its screams, or, why not, through its ugliness. And what better way to succeed in achieving that goal than through creating an online art magazine.

So, as you must have already noticed by now, MonDaily is divided into five categories: Photography, Music, Literature, Film and Web. There is a quite simple explanation for our choosing these five. These are the easiest forms of art to be presented online and still bear their original appeal to the senses and emotions. Cotemplating a painting on a screen does not. Admiring an architectural masterpiece through a photo does not give you the same feeling as standing small in front of its tallness.

Every week, a new issue of MonDaily will be released. An issue has one article for each of the five categories and one main article about the issue theme. Oh yes, every issue will have a theme [for instance, our first issue will have been Rebirth, because of the three month pause MonDaily had to go through because of some management problems]. You can see a list of all the issue released so far and their contents at the Issues page.

A Photography article will either have representative photos for the issue theme or a presentation of a certain photographer that previously agreed to have its work showcased by MonDaily. Both ways, MonDaily’s most insightfull opinion shall also be present. The same goes for all the other categories. Of course, the works presented will be representative for their category and the certain issue’s theme.

With all these things said, we hope since our new first Monday, 09 March ‘09, everybody will start loving Mondays or at least stop hating them.
